Gone is the 71st chapter in the Gakkou Gurashi! manga.
Summary[]
Miki, Yuki and Yuuri recapitulate what they know about the past outbreaks of the Omega bacteria. They recall hearing from Aosoi about a previous outbreak in 1968 and of even more ancient outbreaks that somehow were contained without resorting to incendiary bombs.
Miki decides to ask Bowman in Aosoi's smartphone to show her the most recent information recorded by Aosoi. The phone is suffering from some sort of technical glitch, but when asked by Yuki says that the glitch may be repaired by turning it off. Somewhat impulsively, she does and then turns it back on, which indeed seems to solve the glitch, but prompts the phone to request an access password.
It turns out that the password hint is "My Name" and, after some struggling, Miki realizes that the password is indeed "Aosoi Shiiko". They then watch a posthumous video recording from Aosoi where she admits to having been the true voice behind Bowman and asks them to persist.
They also watch a later recording, which we saw in a previous chapter, from the time when Aosoi had handcuffed herself to a signpost before succumbing to the infection. From that recording they learn that both Megumi and Kurumi must have had some sort of pre-existing resistance to the infection, since their symptoms developed slowly and incompletely.
Yuki also asks Bowman to replay the most recent recording in the phone, which turns out to be the desperate voice message from Aosoi's last few conscious moments (also seen in a previous chapter). A reference to "Naza" calls their attention to Nazake Swamp, which turns out to be the indirect source of Megurigaoka Private High School.
Yuki, Miki and Yuuri do however notice that there must be more to it, since many more people also drink water coming from the swamp. They conclude that the regular water processing probably removes the cure from Nazake's Swamp's water, while the school's emergency purification system may be different enough to keep it.
It is a longshot, but Kurumi did turn out worse once they were away from the school, and they want to make the attempt.
